Headteacher’s Message
Birkby Infant & Nursery School is a large, vibrant community in Huddersfield, serving families from a wide range of cultural backgrounds. We are immensely proud of our school, our children, and our community.
Together, we have built and sustained a strong quality of education which continues to improve year on year. Our richly diverse community is celebrated and respected, and we promote the values of tolerance, respect, and consideration of others in everything we do.
Ofsted (April 2025) recognised that:
“Pupils behave exceptionally well throughout the day.”
“Pupils achieve well… The school has very high expectations of what pupils can do.”
Children at Birkby feel safe, valued, and motivated to learn. They are taught by staff with strong subject knowledge who innovate with confidence and clear purpose. We are committed to meeting children’s physical, emotional, and safeguarding needs, ensuring they develop independence, resilience, and a lifelong love of learning.
We work in close partnership with parents and carers, who are always welcome into school. Ofsted noted that:
“The school works very successfully in partnership with parents and carers. Parents of pupils with SEND feel highly included in the decisions that the school makes about their children.”
