After Year 1’s visit to the Yorkshire Sculpture Park they were inspired to make their own sculptures. Children created their sculptures out of clay. Some of the children were inspired by the Sculptors at the sculpture park. We created ‘Birkby Sculpture Park’. We looked at art by David Hockney to create the landscape whilst learning about primary and secondary colours. We made tints by mixing with white and shade by mixing with black. We added these to our landscapes to create a vibrant background for our fantastic sculptures. We started to learn how to join pieces of clay together by using the score and blend method.
